Exchange 2010 Transport Rules RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have Exchange 2010 SP2 and the HUB transport already processing large set of transport rules.

We have 3rd party internet incoming gateway, and we need to add few transport rules from where the incoming emails are received.

so is it possible to add separate HUB transport servers where transport rules / Forefront Protection can be configured only for processing internet emails without disturbing existing HUB transport servers.

Please share your views to adopt a separate HUB transport server, which will inturn transfer the emails to production HUB transport after processing Forefront and transport rule scan.

    Thanks.

Answers

  • Hi,

The transport rule are stored in AD and its organization wide configuration. The first HUB server receive the email will execute the transport rules.

Create transport rule on the Edge server by this the rules are stored in the edge server AD LDS. In this case edge server applies the trasnport rules and send to the internal HUB servers

If you have multiple edge server on each edge server the trasport rules need to be maintained by exporing and importing the rules
