Windows 7 cannot access network shares / printers RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

i have one user who changed his domain password yesterday. Since then, he cannot access network shares on our W2008R2 file servers.

When he list \\server, he only gets \\server\aspnet_client folder (together with some SCCM related hidden shared folders which are NOT visible by default!). Standard network shares and shared printers are not visible.   If everything works fine, even \\server\aspnet_client is not visible.

He also gets some issues updating domain policy via gpupdate.

The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows attempted to read the file \\domain\sysvol\domain\Policies\{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\gpt.ini from a domain controller and was not successful. Group Policy settings may not be applied until this event is resolved. This issue may be transient and could be caused by one or more of the following.

Everything else (Outlook,Jabber ...) looks fine.

ipconfig /all doesnt look wrong, DCs,DNS .. are are pingable ..

  • Group policy can/could be reset to disable or manual start, simply open cmd, type: services.msc  in msc, scroll

to group policy, double click, edit. One must be an Adm.user account, with parental software disabled.Group policy

can also be added in mmc console. One other try, microsoft has a utility called "Print Migrator" seems that if it is

installed to host,R.click on it,create a shortcut, send shortcut to other pc,settings would be in its default.....
