  • Hello, can you explain what you are trying to achieve and we may be able top recommend a better approach? Are you trying to migrate or decommision an ADFS server, etc?

  • You better look at this script:
    https://blog.auth360.net/2016/10/02/backup-and-recovery-with-the-ad-fs-rapid-restore-tool/

the relay parties configuration can be exported using this powershell cmdlet

    Get-AdfsRelyingPartyTrust

    hope this helps.

  • Is the metadata provided via http or do you have a xml-file?

Otherwise talk to the Service Provider and request a new metadata-URL/file from them (so you know you have the latest version with correct information) and create a new federation on the new server and copy the rules from the old server. Once you feel you have done everything on your side, ask the SP to update the IdP metadata (for your new IdP) and then try to login to the application and make sure it works as it should.

  • I know this thread is old, but the Rapid Restore Tool does not export Relying Party Trusts or Claims settings. You can use Rapid Restore to backup and restore your certificates and ADFS configuration only.
