IE11 Disable "what do you want to do with this file" Download Pop Up RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a users computer that is popping up this window every time she clicks on a PDF link in our Intranet.

    OS: Windows 7 Enterprise

    IE: 11

    I run the same OS and the same browser and can't even figure out how to replicate.  I've spent all morning trying to research this and haven't found a solution that works.  Has anyone seen this before?

  • Hi Chris

    Basically, you go to the registry key...

    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\AttachmentExecute\{0002DF01-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

    ...(create this key if it doesn't exist) and add a zero-byte REG_DWORD value under it named appropriately for the file type you want to open. Like this...

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\AttachmentExecute\{0002DF01-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]
    "
    AcroExch.Document.DC"=dword:00000000

    To choose the reg_dword name look at the "default" REG_SZ value in the key Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf

    Regards

    Simon
