Does virtualization make sense for me? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am the IT Admin at a small company.  75 users, 3 W2K8 R2 servers, as follows:

    -SRV1: Exchange Server 2010 only

-SRV2: Domain Ctrl, SQL server, some apps

-SRV3: Domain Ctrl, ERP system, shared folders

All servers have their own UPS's, mirrored drives, dual NICs - as you'd expect.  I'm not using any virtualization right now.  Does it make sense for a small setup like mine?  Looking ahead to Win Server 2012, should I be thinking about running my servers as VM's?  Or is this overkill?

I am the ONLY IT person at our company, so I am responsible for everything, and I wear a lot of hats.  There would be a learning curve for me, but what else is new.

  • This isn't a general forum, but a suppport forum for the end of life product Virtual Server 2005.

A better place for general questions would be something like SpiceWorks community forums, which are general and non-vendor specific.
