SCCM + APPV + RDS + Restricting shortcuts = A scripting challenge ;o) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Background: I currently have two separate RDS farms which both have AppV apps delivered by SCCM.

    Requirement:

I currently have a number of applications which ‘everyone’ should see I also need to provision some apps which only some users should see.

    My Current Thinking:

I can run delivered applications via command line SFTMIME LOAD APP:"Paint.NET 3.55.3767.28615" – I currently deploy installed "restricted apps" applications via powershell so I could write a script which can detect AD group membership and then run SFTMIME

    Question:

Is  sequencing “restricted apps” without shortcuts and then manually delivering the icons the best option for someone running in a RDS environment? (if I don't remove the shortcuts then they won't be restricted - I understand from a security point users could still run them if they used SFTMIME)

Does anyone else have any better ideas?

    I could use item level targeting .. hmmm I'll have a play, I don't know why I didn't think of it! ;o)
