Office 2016 for Mac Activation

Question
-
Hi,
So here's the story. I ordered Office 2016 for Mac through the Microsoft Home Use Program, through my works email. I got the link and sent it to my home email address so that I could download the files at home, on to my sons IMac, for his college work. After updating his mac to IoS X, it finally let me install Office 2016. When we try to activate it, it doesnt ask for the Product Key I got in the email, but asks for a Microsoft account email. I have called the Microsoft Support and they say that my sons email account, with live.co.uk is the address to use as that is associated with the order number, but when I try this email address, it gives an error that its not associated. If I try my personal email address, which is where I can find the order details, it comes back with no licenses found. If I try to register my sons email address as a Microsoft account, it says the Live.co.uk is a reserved domain.
Any ideas on how to activate so that he can save documents. I ordered a backup dvd when I ordered the digital download. When I receive the dvd, would it make a difference if I uninstall the office and reinstall from dvd.
I think his mac did have office 365 on too....if that makes a difference
Thanks
Stu

Hi Stu Aspinall,
I suggest you follow these steps to verify your account:
1. Go to http://office.com/myaccount and sign in with the email address and password of your Microsoft account.
2. Select Services and Subscriptions at the top of the page.
-
Do one of the following:
-
Under Subscriptions, verify that you have a current subscription to Office 365 Home, Office 365 Personal, or Office 365 University.
OR
-
Under More Services, select Try Office 365 Home for free, and follow the instructions to sign up for your trial account.
-
PLEASE NOTE: If you know you have a current Office 365 subscription and don't see one here, you may have more than one Microsoft account. Try signing out and signing back in with a different email address and password.
Hope it's helpful.
