Internet Explorer 7 crashing RRS feed

    Been having this problem for a few weeks now. The work around was just simply right click and save it onto my computer locally and opening the file from there, but was wondering if there is a way to fix this problem.

    Description of the system:
    Dell Optiplex GX270 (Old I know, we're upgrading computers very soon)
    Windows XP Pro SP3

    Sharepoint 2007
    Internet Explorer 7
    Adobe Acrobat 7 Standard

    So a little description of the problem:
    While accessing the sharepoint site, and attempting to open a PDF file, I get the generic Internet Explorer has crashed, send in error report etc. Now, other people in the office who have access to those same PDF's can access it just fine; same computer specs, programs used... everything. This only happens when I try to access PDF's on sharepoint.

    So some of the things that I've tried, but didn't work were:
    Updating IE 7 -> IE 8
    Adobe Acrobat 7 Standard -> 8 Standard + Updates
    Fully uninstalling Acrobat, and IE; then reinstall
    Going into IE -> Tools -> Reset to default settings
    Going into Acrobat preferences and turning off opening PDF's in IE
    Rebooting the computer
    and the generic shouting at the monitor

    So it has all come down to maybe just image the drive if the problem can't be identified; I would like to avoid that scenario if possible.

    Any help is appreciated.

  • Your post is off-topic for this forum (issues arising from the SP3 update), but I would advise investigating the plug-ins for Internet Explorer other than the PDF ones: try turning them all off apart from PDF, then see whether the problem continues.
