exchange email address policy configuration RRS feed

  • Question

  • I would like to know if the following is possible.  I know in the EMS we can use the following for conditions for email policy.

Custom Attribute equals Value   There are 15 custom attributes for each recipient or State or Province, Department, or Company conditions

But from the following page it seems the shell can do it on much more (from group membership to many other fiilters)

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996800.aspx (via http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232194.aspx) -RecipientFilter <String>

Speficially I would like to build one based on the SMTP proxy address.  (as our company have more than one email domain)

Parent company email address should not necessarly be used by child companies employees.

As we want them to represent the child company not the parent company (appear arm lenth)

right now they can use username@littlecompany.com or username@parentcompany.com  (they are all part of the same AD forest)

we also want it automated when a new user is created automatically.

  • If you don't want to use custom attributes then do it by department or different OUs, assuming that you have littlercompany user's in a different OU e.g. LittleCompany.

Setup a new EAP - email address policy and when creting a little company mailbox in that user apply the EAP. it should work.

  • You can use any of those filters as long as you have someting unique which differentiates the child/parent users that you can use to apply the EAP too.  Once done, this will be automatic when you create the mailbox.
