Windows 7 error message 0x80070005 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have recently installed Windows 7 on my Dell Inspiron 1526 and periodically through the day an error message box pops up that says "An unauthorized change was made to Windows" and that I'll no longer receive notifications about license or activation, and to click to learn more. It tells me there's an error 0x80070005.  Every time I follow the link it takes me to a Microsoft site, and it looks like it's validating my Windows. It comes back and says I have a valid Windows license and then looks like it's offering me Microsoft security, which I don't need.  But the box keeps popping up several times every hour.  Any thoughts on how to get rid of it?
