  • Question

  • Hello

When our application exiting we got a MAPI crash at mso20win32client.dll with exception code c0000005.

Is it a known bug from Microsoft? And it have some workaround with this issue?
Problem starts from build 8229 from June 28.

The same situation and with MFCMapi and with Redemption.

  • Hi,

Thanks for posting in our forum.

By this, do you mean Outlook crashes when existing?
Is there any error message when the issue occurs?

Regarding the MAPI crash at mso20win32client.dll, I did much research but currently cannot confirm if this is a known issue as there's no documentation stating this.

Does this problem affect all users in your environment?

To help narrow down the issue, it is suggested to try testing in safe mode (Press Win + R, type "outlook /safe", press Enter.) and see if there will be any improvement.

Any updates, please post back at ease.

    Best regards,
    Yuki Sun

  • Hello
    Thank you for respond.

All applications that use MAPI crash, but Outlook is stable.
This happens for all user types and applications under Windows 7 and 10.
    This situation is stable.

    How to reproduce:
    - please downlaod latest MFCMapi application version
    https://github.com/stephenegriffin/mfcmapi/releases
    - Have Outlook profile with single local pst store
    - Run MFCMapi
    - Login
    - Exit MFCMapi

  • Hi,

We have several customers now reporting the exact same problem in a product of ours that uses MAPI to send email, and are able to duplicate the problem in-house.  Is there any timeline for a fix to this problem, or any workaround?  Any bug report on connect.microsoft.com I can follow for updates?  To reiterate, we have several customers in the field reporting this, and it is affecting their productivity and their perception of our product.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
