Project Web App 2013 - Project website as homepage RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everyone,

we're using Sharepoint 2013 and Project 2013 and set up Project Web App.

If one opens a project in the project center you get instantly redirected to the project details.

My question is: Is it possible to change this behavior so that when a project ist being opened the project website is being displayed instead of the project details?

    Cheers,

    Marius

  • Hello,

Not using the Project Name hyperlink unless you did this via JavaScript on the page potentially.. Alternately you could do something like this:

  • I just commented on the link from the other reply.

For a less technical way to resolve the problem, if your users are using the Document library on the SharePoint site, they will also be able to click the 'Folder Icon' on the left.  In his example on the second image of this page, the project 'Create new Windows Phone App' has a 'Folder Icon' just to the left of the name.  This will take you directly to the SharePoint site.  However, there needs to be documents in the Doc Library in order for it to show up.  You could put a blank document in this library just to have this functionality.

  • That is an option - the same applies to Issues and Risks too, if the project has an issue or risks on the Project site you can click the icon in the indicator column and it will open the list up on that project site.

  • Thank you both for your input!

The reason why I was asking about this is that users in the group "team members for project web app" or even "owner of project" are getting "Web Part was unable to load" errors at accessing the project details page of a project (clicking on the project names in project center) and I was unable to resovle this issue. If users are in the "Administrators" group they can access the project details page.

This is a completely new Sharepoint 2013 / Project 2013 environment, no upgrade.
