cannot save configuration because the server is still processing a previous configuration change

Question
-
Server 2008 R2 SP1
WSUS 3.2.7600.226
2 x ESXi vcpu from xeon E5310 physical cpu
1Gb shared iscsi san
5GB ram
"cannot save configuration because the server is still processing a previous configuration change" is displayed in Update Files & Languages screen for a week since changing to option "do not store update files locally; computers install from microsoft update" Other snap-ins are unresponsive, intermittent console failure that requires close/reopen wsus or reset. server has been restarted. I see varying accounts of cause & fix. Should I leave it alone as long as needed to process the change or what is considered a correct solution?

Hi tektotket,
What operations can you perform now, could you un-install the WSUS role? Or everything of WSUS hangs.
If you can un-install the WSUS role, we may un-install it, and re-install it from scratch.
Best Regards,
Anne

Hi tekeotket,
Yes, re-installation will wipe out all settings. Do you have worries about it? If not, you may re-install it and the original settings are easy to set up again.
Best Regards,
Anne
