Installing XP over vista RRS feed

    Hi, I am using a laptop that came with vista installed, I don't like it and want to install xp. So I chuck my xp cd in the drive but it does not boot, no problem this has happened before I will just chuck in the floppy disk boots. Only problem is the laptop does not have a floppy drive and because of the way usb works I am assuming a usb floppy drive would not produce the desired results.

     

    I would appreciate any insights into this problem.

    - Before anything take backup of your VISTA on DVD media.

    - GO to BIOS and set "DVD rom" as a 1st boot device

    - Put XP cd and installation will start.

    - If still problem persists remove DVD rom from the bay & fix it back ( Caution : while doing it remove battery pack & disconnect everything, turn off laptop )

     

    Last & best solution would be > Download "G Parted" live cd iso. Burn it, Boot your laptop uisng that live CD, partitioner whill show current partition cheme, delete VISTA partition , reboot your laptop and start XP installation.
