  • The Secondary server must be in the same domain, it's not supprted with CBA .

Quoted from TechNet "DPM supports protecting DPM servers that are in untrusted domains if the primary and secondary DPM servers are in domains that trust each other or if they are in the same domain."

  • Make sure that both DPM servers are at same version, check About DPM to see the exact versionnumber.

Are the Secondary DPM Server an R2 version? A DPM 2012R2 Server can't protect a DPM 2012 Server, they need to be of same versions.

  • Hello, Sorry did not mentioned that primary DPM is in untrusted domain. For this configuration i have to install DPM agent for egzample certificate based authentication. But manual installation of agent on DPM server fails with error "Protection Agent cannot be Installed on machine where DPM is installed"

  • Interesting,

found that 2012 had new feature and it supported CBA http://blogs.technet.com/b/dpm/archive/2011/09/01/dpm-2012-certificate-based-protection.aspx

well, another dissapointment in microsoft, that there is no silmple solution in DPM for disaster recovery...
