OLAP and Project Server 2010 Reporting not working RRS feed

Answers

  • There are no OLAP cube views in 2010.  All of the views are done through Excel, Visio and PerformancePoint.  What happens when you open up Excel, click on Data, add a connection to your Analysis Server, and then select one of the cubes to surface in Excel?

  • Thats not the answer! But I was wrong to use the word cube. I meant OLAP Reports that are in the BI > Templates area of project server 2010

    Here is the answer->

    1. You must configure the Analysis Services Database Server to be accessed over the internet http or https. Here is the how to --> There is a typo, where it says "In this example, it would be: C:\wwwroot\olap\msmdpump.dll" The correct path should be "C:\inetpub\wwwroot\olap\msmdpump.dll"

    2. Go back to Project Server > Server Settings > OLAP Database Management > Click on your OLAP database to bring up the properties and for the * Analysis Services Server: enter in the url you configured for Analysis Services Database Server

  • Are the cubes being succesfully built, and the issue is more configuring
    the view - or are the cubes not being built at all?

    Thanks

  • Yes the cubes build successfully in Server settings > OLAP Database Management.

    Do I need to configure something else to get the views to work?

  • Hi FoxJacobi,

    What is the exact error message you receive?

    Have you added the OLAP data connection folder as a Trusted data connection library in Excel Services?
    Have you granted the account you specified for the Secure Store Target Application permissions to the OLAP cube?

    I hope this helps,
    Hans

  • Andrew,

    I can connect in the same domain to my Analysis Server but not from outside my network.
