SQL 2014 Replication Monitoring Pack - Clusters not supported - How to monitor? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I was having issues with discovery failing with the SQL 2014 Replication Monitoring MP on my cluster servers.  I opened a case with MS and discovered, to my shock and surprise, that clusters are not supported for the monitoring pack.  It's in the documentation, but I glazed over it because I never in a million years considered that SQL clusters would not be supported.  This makes no sense.

So my question is: how do I monitor replication on my clusters since Microsoft isn't supporting it?  Has anybody in the community worked around this issue?

    From the MP guide...

    SQL Server 2014

64-bit SQL Server 2014 Database Engine on 64-bit OS

    Clustered servers

    Agentless monitoring

    Not supported

    Virtual environment

  • Thanks for the feedback, Elton.  I was hoping the community had a clever solution, but maybe I'm an oddball running a cluster that has a replica?
