Automatic Approval of Rollups RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I use WSUS for my updates and have the default automatic approval rule set to critical and security updates only. In the past I have always manually approved Exchange rollups and as far as I am aware Exchange 2007 rollups are not critical or security updates but the last couple of rollups (8 and 9) seem to have been automatically approved by WSUS. Is this the case or am I just talking rubbish?

    Cheers
    C

  • Hi,
    No you are not talking rubbish.

    The reason for Rollup8 and Rollup9 being automatically approved in WSUS, is that they both includes a security hotfix.

    Rollup8 --> MS12-058 (KB2740358)
    Rollup9 --> MS12-080 (KB2756497)

    Because of that, they are both classified as a security update and as you noticed, was automatically approved in WSUS.
