SCCM Site System OS Upgrade- In Place RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are planning to do a inplace upgrade of your SCCM DP OS from 2008 to 2012 . We have one CAS 3 Primary and several DPs. SCCM version is 2012 R2. All DPs are running on windows server 2008 . However while going through some MS docs i found that Inplace upgrade from 2008 to 2012  for sccm site system is not supported . I tried to find the reasons for the same but unfortunately i could not find it.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/servers/manage/upgrade-on-premises-infrastructure  -- See the

    Unsupported upgrade scenarios section

If someone could give me the reason why it is not supported??

  • You'll have to open a support case to get any sort of answer but even then I doubt you'll get one other than because that's they way it is. Does it matter though? It's not supported and knowing why won't change that.

  • Only MS team would be able to answer to this question...

Not supported means not tested by MS. It could be fine like it could be not but it's not MS fault if it's not ok and they will not help you to solve any problem during the migration of not supported scenarios
