Pretty sure I found a bug with DP configuration RRS feed

  • Question

  • Even after a clean install of the site, I'm noticing that any time IIS gets touched for role configuration (DP or not) - the DP 'forgets' its configuration (pxe state, configured certificate, http/https state). In this environment, all roles (11) are on a single standalone primary site server configuration, serving ~1500 clients. OS is Windows Server 2012 R2 with all applicable updates, Configuration Manager 2012 R2 SP1 CU2.

  • CU3 has been released and it looks like it has a fix for this issue: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3135680

From the "Issues that are Fixed" section:

"Distribution Points configured for HTTPS communications will be reset to use HTTP communications after other site properties are changed. For example, installing a new Software Update Point can trigger the Distribution Point to revert to HTTP communications. Other Distribution Point settings may also change."

  • Hi

That's strange - I have done this many times without the DP configurations changed.

Do you have the common.log and are there something in it that can point you in the right direction.

    Kind regards

  • Behavior mentioned in the hotfix text is exactly what I'm seeing. Good find - CU3 wasn't shown in the servicing extension last time I checked the console so I hadn't heard of its release. Will try that out and confirm/deny fix.
