IMAP/SMTP Two-Factor authentication RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

Well. I already have an idea of the answer but I still try.

Using IMAP/SMTP protocol only to connect to Exchange servers mailbox (On-Premises) is there a way to use Two-Factore authentications to secure connections?

I guess the answer is: "NO" because I found absolutely nothing regarding that matter.
And "Azure MFA" is absolutely not an option.

    Any idea/option/trick?

(EWS protocol + Two-Factor could be an option).

    Thanks

  • Hi Florent,

Per my knowledge, POP3/IMAP don't support 2FA, so there is no such a way to use 2FA to secure POP3/IMAP connections.

  • Hello Niko

Indeed we simply gave up the idea to use 2FA with IMAP.
We will find - then suggest - another way to secure mail transport.

Maybe using EWS + 2 FA (maybe using Azure to so).

    Thanks again

    Florent
