External data source crawling but showing no results RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have created BDC model and then external list using external content type. ReadList and readItem methods are implemented properly.

I have created new content source using this external data source. There is no error under crawl logs so that I can troubleshoot.

    Please help me on this.

    Regards,

    Sunita

  • Thanks all for replying.

There was some issue with search service on the current server.

I have deployed the solution on another server and created content source, crawled and created managed properties and it is working as expected.

    Regards,

    Sunita

  • Hi,

The default content source is used to crawl the contents on web applications, and you need to create a specific content source which type is BDC to index and crawl the external data from database.

Blow are the details about how to crawl and search the data in external list for your reference:

  • HI Sunita,

Below steps might help you to resolve your issue.

    1. Perform a full crawl if not done already.

    2. Map the Crawled Properties to the Managed Properties as applicable.

Also, you can refer to this blog which explains the things in details.

  • Hi Sunita,

For this issue, I recommend to check the things below:

    1. Check if you have permission to view the external data first.
    2. Check crawl log to the successful logs to see if the external list item have been crawled.

    Best Regards,

    Victoria
