Client Contacting WSUS but not Reporting or Downloading/Installing Updates RRS feed

    I have tried quite a bit of solutions to get this one working, and I am at my wit's end. We have a Windows 7 client that will contact the WSUS server, but not report or download/install updates. We are running Windows Server 2008 R2 with WSUS 3.0 SP2 and other clients seem to be working fine. I will post the steps I have tried and the WindowsUpdateLog below:

    Steps:

    1. Running wuauclt /detectnow, /reportnow, etc. nothing works
    2. Deleted PC from the WSUS server, comes back but will not report
    3. Checked rsop.msc and gpresult /r and verified it is receiving the WSUS settings and looking at the correct server
    4. Connected to http://wsusservername/selfupdate/iuident.cab from the trouble client and it downloads the cab file fine
    5. Reset BITS and WSUS services, renewed WSUS client ID

    None of the above steps have worked, so I took the WindowsUpdateLog and will post it below and in the first comment, any help is appreciated.

    Hi fourth_cornetto,

    1. What is the version of the WSUS server, it's better to upgrade it to the latest version of WSUS 3.0, WSUS 3.0 (SP2) + KB2938066: Build 3.2.7600.274;

    2. On the client having problems, please try resetting windows update components:

    Reset windows update components:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/971058

    3. Delete the SoftwareDistribution on the client:

    1) In cmd, run net stop wuauserv;

    2) Delete SoftwareDistribution in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution;

    3) In cmd, run net start wuauserv;

    4. On the WSUS server, please decline all superseded updates and run server cleanup wizard.

    5. After doing that, if the issue still remains, please check the windows update log again.

    1. What is the version of the WSUS server, it's better to upgrade it to the latest version of WSUS 3.0, WSUS 3.0 (SP2) + KB2938066: Build 3.2.7600.274;

    2. On the client having problems, please try resetting windows update components:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/971058

    3. Delete the SoftwareDistribution on the client:

    1) In cmd, run net stop wuauserv;

    2) Delete SoftwareDistribution in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution;

    3) In cmd, run net start wuauserv;

    4. On the WSUS server, please decline all superseded updates and run server cleanup wizard.

    5. After doing that, if the issue still remains, please check the windows update log again.

    If WSUS is installed to a port other than 80, you must append the port to the url.
