Switching between two infopath templates RRS feed

  • Question

I have a scenario in which i need to use two infopath form templates in a library say Template1 and Template2. Out of these two one template Template1 should be used when a user will create a new request. But the other template Template2 should be used whenever someone will open the previously generated requested(generated using Template1). Both the templates are having very similar fields. But the arrangement is different a bit.

Can you tell me how this can be done?

  • People would normally use different "views" in Infopath fort his purpose.

  • Thanks Paul. That video was very good.

Now, one more problem is there i.e. i want to add a picture in my infopath form that will be static and the form should be browser enabled also. I tried various links like

But that was of not much help as i was not able to implement that.

if you can provide me with some links regarding that I will be very thankful to you.

  • Hi,

I just pasted the pics in the table cells and that will do for me.

But other problem is that while i am checking my form to be browser enabled it is giving me the error message "User roles are not supported." I commented whole my code behind file then checked still the same error then i checked each and every control of both of my infopath views for the possibilty they may be using some user role but no control in my forms using any rule or data validation or formatting which will depend on the user using the form.

And i am switching the view depending upon a text box if its not empty then switch otherwise not.

Can you tell what are the most common reason for that error may be i am forgetting something.

  • I'm not familiar with that error.

Your logic for switching views should be fine.

I would try deleting the code (make a backup first) to isolate the problem to that.  You can delete the code in one step like this: http://paulgalvin.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!1CC1EDB3DAA9B8AA!609.entry?wa=wsignin1.0

  • Hi,

I am working on Infopath 2007 template having two views. One is request creation and other is approval. But when i checked my forms compatibility with the browser i got the error "User roles are not supported.". I thought may be some problem with my design and i am using some rules in UI and code which are not compatible. Then i removed my code first then i removed all of my controls one by one and then even some of the images and at last i removed everything so just blank forms in both views. But still i was getting the same irritating error even with empty forms.

And when i created new project with empty template it was working fine.

Can you tell me the possible reason for this?
