MDT Deployment share issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have our MDT 2013 server scripted so when someone chooses the litetouch x64, it will automatically choose the deployment share based off the default gateway, we have to input the username and password, choose the image and then we script it so it goes into an OU. We have 3-4 models where these steps work fine bbut we have 2 models that we know of that no matter how often we reboot them and go through the same steps when you boot off the WDS server and choose the litetouch x64, it will load up the MDT screen but it will ask for the deployment root share and you have to input this in manually. Next it will prompt for a username and password, followed by choosing your image and then we have to input the OU we want the computer to be added to after the it joins to the domain. This always happens.

    The rules tab under the MDT Deployment share properties is listed as below

    [Settings]
    Priority=Default
    Properties=MyCustomProperty

    [Default]
    OSInstall=Y
    SkipCapture=NO
    SkipAdminPassword=YES
    SkipProductKey=YES
    SkipComputerBackup=YES
    SkipBitLocker=YES

    KeyboardLocale=en-US
    SkipUserData=YES
    JoinDomain=COE.com
    DomainAdmin=join
    DomainAdminDomain=COE
    DomainAdminPassword=Password
    :Set Timezone
    Skip TimeZone=Yes
    TimeZoneName=Atlantic Standard Time

    We have the bootstrap file configured with the following

    [Settings]
    Priority=DefaultGateway, Default
    Properties=MyCustomProperty

    [Default]

    SkipBDDWelcome=YES
    userdomain=COE

    [DefaultGateway]
    10.22.0.1=Party
    10.22.1.1=Segal

    [Party]
    DeployRoot=\\BB-Party\deploymentshare$
    MachineObjectOU=OU=imaging,OU=Computers,OU=IT, OU=PARTY,  DC=CEO, DC=dom
    OSDComputerName=PAT-%SerialNumber%

    [Segal]
    DeployRoot=\\BB-Segal\deploymentshare$
    MachineObjectOU=OU=imaging,OU=Computers,OU=IT, OU=SEGAL,  DC=CEO, DC=dom
    OSDComputerName=SEG-%SerialNumber%

    I also downloaded the driver cabs directly from Dell and they uploaded successfully and after the OS is loaded all the drivers are listed as well.

    So I would like to understand why do these 2 models always make us load the information in manually while the other ones work.

    Just a note all computers are currently being imaged at BB-Party location so it should be point to that share.
