Error Message and crash in Word 2010

Question

Good Morning,
I upgraded all of my 45 users from Office Pro 2003 to Office Standard 2010 yesterday and everything went fine with the exception of one user.
On this one machine the user is having word crash while he is working on it, sometimes right away, sometimes it is good for ten minutes, it crashes no matter what the file is, even on new documents with very little text. I have seacrhed all over the web and have seen recommendations to turn off DEP, remove updates, delete reg keys...etc etc. Nothing has worked, we have even attempted reinstall of the office suite, if I cant find something soon I may need to redo the whole system but I would like to avoid that if I can.
The system is running Windows 7 64bit, Norton Corporate 12.0 (same as 45 other users without issues), Fully up to date on patches and there is no 3rd party software installed that isn't installed on other machines in the building.
The error message is listed below, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

For the benefit of anyone that may run into this issue, uninstalling 2003 corrected the problem.

Have you tried everything in the KnowledgeBase article "How to troubleshoot problems that occur when you start or use Word 2010, Word 2007, Word 2003, or Word 2002" at:

Do the other 44 users still have 2003 installed?
I have 2003, 2007 and 2010 all installed on the one machine and can run each (individually, not at the same time) without problem.
While removing 2003 for that one use has overcome his problems, I cannot see it as a universal fix and believe that there must have been something else going on as well.

The other 44 users had 2003 removed during the install, he had requested to have them both available to him so as far as I can see there was a conflict. I do not know what the conflict was but there was certainly a correlation between removing 2003 and the issue going away.
I do appreciate your response but as you are suggesting that in some situations it may not correct the issues, it should be noted all systems have variances in them for installed software and personal configuration so it should not be summarily dismissed because in some environments it can help.
Cheers,
Tom

i will be very interested to know the 'fix' for this computer cancer once you find it. i have hours upon hours with level 3 tech support at MS since november 1, 2011......numerous hours of remote access of my computer trying to fix the same problem.....even installed word 10 pro for me and it still happens at least five times a day, if not more. the majority of the time it is when i try to save or close the document i am working in. they have applied fixes, they have uninstalled, reinstalled, upgraded, removed registry keys...you name it they did it to no avail.
very unhappy in ohio. lost alot of time and work hours with this problem.

Same here. If I 'save as' and then move the dialog box, I can provoke a crash every time. Sometimes crashes just when saving.
Also running Vista 64 bit, although with Word 2007. Same fault module, timestamp, OS code as samtsen. I don't have Office 2003 installed.
I've tried everything in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921541/en-gb?p=1
