Windows 10 run startup script faster RRS feed

  • Question

  • I was suggested to put my topic here cause I might get more help. I have a Windows 10 VM on a laptop where I put a startup script in %allusersprofile%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup to kill explorer for testing. It takes 10 - 15 seconds after logging in for the script to start. There are no other programs/script running at all on the machines as this is a fresh image. I tried putting startupdelayinmsec value in the registry during the install:

    cmd /c reg add "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Serialize" /v StartupDelayInMSec /d 0 /t REG_DWORD /f

But that does not help with getting the script to run faster. I even tried it on HKLM and the same deal. The startupdelayinmsec does work in Windows 8.1 though. Any one know how to get a startup script to run faster? Thanks.
