Removing EDGE?

    Question

  • 'Hi guys.

We are doing a test with 3rd party SMTP relay host. We would like to use this host also for inbound traffic to Exchange server.

Currently we have Exchange EDGE in our environment.

Is it enough to change public MX record to point to this new 3rd party SMTP relay host for inbound mail traffic, or do you need to remove edge subscription before SMTP relay host can handle inbound traffic from internet to Exchange server in LAN?

    With best regards

You can just change the mx record.

As long as the relay routes to Exchange and the internet receive connector can accept messages from the SMTP relay, it will work ( Scoped to IP of the relay or allow any connection)
