Licensing of the data from project server RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are working on a report that pulls some data from Project Server via the PSI web services. The data is stored in a SQL server completely separate from our Project Server / Reporting services farm.

Would end consumers of this data need to have any specific Project licensing rights?

  • Hi Marc,

Extracted from the Project Server 2013 licensing guide, here is what i found:

When is a Project Server CAL Needed in a Mixed SharePoint Environment?
Within a mixed SharePoint and Project Server environment, not all end users may utilize Project Server. In such instances, you should understand if you need a Project Server CAL. The general rule for Project Server CALs is that if you can see the Project Server data, whether directly or indirectly (i.e. multiplexing), then you need a Project Server CAL and dependents.

So even if with licensing we are never sure :), i think you need one CAL per user connecting to your database.

    Hope this helps
