Sp2010 Upgrade to Sp2013 Stuck at 4.62%

    Question

  • I am trying to upgrade sp2010 Content Db to Sp2013. For that I took a backup of sp2010 content db of size ( 15GB) then I executed Mount-SPContentDatabase command. Upgrade is now stuck in 4.62% where it is running step 20 of 130. In Sp Logs It is running following step:

InsertAllUserDataSparseDefaultRowOrdinal (15.0.20.1) ajywf DEBUG Begin Upgrade() a0e125e2-246b-449b-9852-eea9d0f8884f

How do I make it go faster, I has been stuck in that stage for 9 hours now.

    Here are my System Specs:

Sp2013 Farm: OS: Windows Server 2012

    SQl : Microsoft SQL Server 2012 - 11.0.5058.0 (X64)   May 14 2014 18:34:29   Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation  Enterprise Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.1  (Build 7601: Service Pack 1) (Hypervisor)

    Assigned Memory: 8Gb

Space left in Data Drive: 98 GB

    Config DB version: 15.0.4719.1000

  • Hi,

As I understand, it is stuck at 4.62% when upgrading to SharePoint 2013.

When the upgrade is stuck, you could run the PowerShell command below. For more detailed information, you could refer to the article below.

    Upgrade-SPSite http://yourserver –VersionUpgrade 3.95% : SPSite Url=http://yourserver

The article below is about migrating SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013.

  • Hello ,

when you are migrating you should first check the data you are mounting

use below command to test the database .

    Test-SPContentDatabase -Name WSS_Content_PERApplication -WebApplication http://vsp2013dev01dsy:3423“.

and second thing you should check have you created the site in the classic mode authentication because if you have created the site in the claim based authentication it will stuck .

But the above command will check all the features you requires

  • What Does –VersionUpgrade 3.95% mean?

  • I did run Test-SpContentDatabase in Sp2010 machine before upgrade, I had some errors but non of them were upgrade blockers. Then I tried to create a brand new site in sp2013 with classic auth and tried to mount db again with -NoB2BUpgrade now its stuck at 15.68% but under same step step 20 of 130. In Splogs it is still upgrading

  • Automated Solutions is not always the fix to these issues. We need to get a root cause of why this is happening, SharePoint logs are not showing anything and Windows Events logs doesn't show anything either. Is there someone from MSFT who can help me with this dilemma.

  • If you wait more than 30 minutes, probably, powershell console is in pause state.

Just click Enter and PS process will wake up.

It may occurs if you click within console when PS command run and QuickEdit Mode and\or Insert options are checked within the console\window properties.
