Configuring Server 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have dual os in my notebook - server 2008 and 7. I am not sure what features ( server manager) to enable in 2008 for basic users. Also drivers seems to be ok. I havent run device drivers.

Few say server os doent work in laptops. Is that true?

do i have to enable all 36 features?

  • To your first question, a server OS usually works, but isn't recommended
for a laptop because there isn't usually a need that would justify the
licensing costs and a laptop isn't usually available enough to provide
services to other users. Additionally, laptops tend to have special
cooling requirements that are not well supported by a server OS.

To your second question, no, you usually never enable all of the
features. I can't think of a possible scenario where you would.

To figure out what roles/features you need, exactly why did you install
a server OS on your laptop?
