  • I've just encountered error code 80070005 when running Windows Update on my Vista PC. It specifically failed when attempting to download an optional update, entitled 'Microsoft Corporation - Networking - HP USB Sync', published 6.6.07, which therefore presumably relates to my HP PDA. However the support page mentioned above doesn't refer to Vista, since it was created over a year ago. Can anyone advise what I do regarding this error in Vista, please? If it makes any difference, I'm running Vista Home Premium.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi,

I get exactly the same error. Windows update on my Vista Premium machine fails to update the HP USB Sync. This doesn't suprise me, because my machine doesn't recognize the IPAQ 1540 pocket PC 2003 as a mobile device anyhow, even though it has the storage devices listed in Explorer. My XP machine had no trouble using Active Sync, I might install XP on this new one instead of Vista, I need to be able to sync my Outlook.
