  • Question

  • Exchange 2007 with Outlook 2007 the client wants to hide the distribution lists from the GAl but wants the to appear in the all address, all groups list.  Has anyone done this and or can it be done?

  • Hi Preston,

    Yes. This will hide the dl's in the gal and only list them in the groups list.

    In other words, if you remove the specified value of the ShowinAddressBook, the DL will be hided in specified container.

    You may test it in your lab first. Please also make a full backup of AD data.

    Is the msExchHideFromAddressLists set to "TRUE"?

  • Hi Preston,

    You can use ADSIEDIT.MSC to modify the properties of DL.

    Default naming context->DC=domain,DC=com-> OU

    Right click the DL-> Properties->Attributes->showInAddressBook

    Remove the CN=Default Global Address list,...

  • Hi Preston,

    Any updates?

    Please check the msExchHideFromAddressLists as Rich said.

    It should be "not set".

    You can also change it using EMC->Recipient Configuration->Distribution Group->DL's Properties->Advanced->clear "Hide Group from Exchange address lists".
