I've created some data models with PowerPivot that I'd not like to share with people in the company. I'd simply like them to be able to look at the excel sheet with the pivot tables and be able to play around with them (expand rows, change filters, etc.).
The data is coming from a connection to OLE DB using Windows Authentication.
The problem is, data refresh does not work for other users, since they do not have permissions to connect to the OLE DB. Giving them permissions would be an annoying, and frankly, unnecessary process.
Given this, how can I enable users with no permissions to connect to the OLE DB to view these workbooks and have the data refreshed automatically?
We can upload our PowerPivot workbook to SharePoint environment, and then configure a PowerPivot unattended data refresh account to refresh PowerPivot data(available to all PowerPivot users on SharePoint).
