Offline AIP with Intune managed iPAD and Intune App Protection RRS feed

  • Question

  • One of our customers wants to make use of offline AIP PDF document with Intune managed iPads and Intune App Protection (MAM). When we test this scenario we experience that we are unable to open protected PDF document because iOS doesn't recognizes the AIP Viewer. We want to open protected PDF documents from OneDrive for Business app offline. Our thought is that this is related to Intune App Protection, because the AIP Viewer is not yet a (MAM) managed app for iOS. We have also checked this by disabling Intune Protected Apps, after disabling Intune App Protection we are able to open the protected PDF document. However when we disable Intune App Protection (still Intune managed) we are unable to open OneDrive offline, plus the goal is to manage the device and make use of Intune App Protection in an controlled offline state.

Could someone tell me if this is known issue? And is there any information on when the iOS AIP Viewer comes available for Intune App Protection?

  • You're right, the Azure Information Protection viewer doesn't currently have MAM support for iOS (only Android) and there is no current ETA for this support to be added to the Intune SDK.  If this is important to you, create a UserVoice entry that you can then track the status (and encourage others to vote on it to help up the priority).  Go to https://msip.uservoice.com/forums/600097-azure-information-protection
