Project 2010 and Excel 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm trying to create a Project Visual report in excel 2013 but get the message, "This operation requires that you have Excel 2003 or later installed on your computer." Is there an update that I am missing to allow project to work with excel 2013?

  • Meghan and Sapna --
I am happy to report that the solution to which Sapna refers (suggested originally by Andrew Lavinsky, MVP) works correctly for Project 2010 and Office 2013.  The trick is to find where the Winproj.exe file is located for Project 2010, where the Excel.exe file is located for Office 2013, and then to copy the Excel.exe to the same folder as the Winproj.exe folder.
Oddly, however, even though I have Visio Professional 2013 installed on my PC, Project 2010 does not see that I have Visio 2013 installed.  And copying the Visio.exe file for Office 2013 to the same folder as Project 2010 does not rectify the problem.  Project 2013 correctly sees that I have Visio Professional 2013 installed, and allows me to create Visual Reports in Visio 2013.  Go figure.
    Hope this additional info helps.
