Can't open xlsx using Vista and office Pro Plus 2010

Question
-
I'm having issues opening xlsx with MS office pro plus 2010. I have MS Vista. When I click on an xlsx workbook on my desktop, there is only an hourglass that appears and does not open up. I have no issues opening xls workbooks. The Dynamic Data Exchange is unchecked. I've tried reinstalling the office. I've tried repairing the office. Nothing is working. Any suggestions will be tried! Thanks!Wednesday, March 14, 2012 6:25 PM

Hi,
According to you description, I would suggest you can empty the following folder and rename the registry key which could affect opening the .xlsx file except the Dynamic Data Exchange option:
Folder location:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTARTRegistry key:
Note: After renaming the registry key, please repair Office again to recreate a new key.
Important
This method is related to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you do it carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. Thanks for replying back to me regarding this issue. I ended up going in to the registry and renaming it Excel.Sheet.12 which it was not named. As soon as I did that it worked. Thanks again for your input.
