Downloading prerequisite components RRS feed

  • Question

  • Whilst downloading the prerequisite components for sccm 2012 the downloader fails with this logged in ConfigMgrSetup log file.

    INFO: Downloading http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=234176 as wic_x64_enu.exe  $$<Configuration Manager Setup><08-02-2012 20:43:52.375-60><thread=1592 (0x638)>

I attempted to follow the link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=234176 manually in IE and get told that the page does not exist.

Searching for the wic_x64 component sends me to the same non existent download page.

Is there anywhere else I can get this file from?

  • Run setupdl.exe <target dir> from \%SCCM SOURCE LOCATION%\SMSSETUP\BIN\X64\

This will attempt to download the pre-reqs to the target dir as listed above and will fail as per your message above.

Download this file WIC_X64_ENU.EXE from my skydrive and copy this to the <target dir>

Re run setupdl.exe <target dir> and this will then verify the existing file (including the downloaded wic_x64_enu.exe) and the remaining files will download.

Re launch the SCCM Setup and when prompted for pre-reqs choose the second option and browse to the location of your <Target Dir>.

    Setup will now complete.

Also if you running SP1 CTP apply the same fix as above.

Apparently Microsoft are working on this so it should be up and running as normal soon.

  • I heard there's a known issue and it's being worked on.

  • AdminCowboy: it's always a good idea to search the forums before posting a question. That problem was already discussed here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/nl/configmanagergeneral/thread/19e613c5-62b7-4810-88bf-5d1d6760316f. Thanks.

  • As Matthew suggested downloading from his sky drive resolved this issue.

    Thank you for uploading it.
