SSPR Answer Constraints Query RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am attempting to use an answer constraint to force users to enter two letters, followed by six numbers, followed by an optional letter, all the letters should be in capitals and no spaces allowed. I am using the following regex:

    ^[A-Z]{2}[0-9]{6}[A-Z]{0,1}$

Could anyone shed any light as to why this is not working?

    Many thanks

  • Hi,

Your requirements are pretty much met by default behaviour as described in the SSPR documentation which states:

Be aware that the regular expression is applied to the answer after the answer is normalized as follows:

    • The white spaces characters are removed
    • The characters with accents are replaced for the character with no accent
    • The characters are converted to lowercase.

Since the characters are converted to lowercase I changed your syntax and this will work now:

    ^[a-z]{2}[0-9]{6}[a-z]{0,1}$

    Good luck!
