  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a problem with one of my client Laptop. Windows 7 Pro just hang whenever the user tried to transfer a huge file size over the network e.g. from server to laptop. He is using Dell E4310 with a single disk drive.

Can anyone provide a solution to this?

  • Hi,

This issue could be caused by the new TCP Auto Tuning feature include in Windows Vista and Windows 7 that uses a scaling factor communication between the server and client to negotiate a bigger window size during connection of the tow peers.

    To Turn off Auto-Tuning

1.press Ctrl+Shift+Enter to open the Command Prompt. Choose run as administrator.

Type in: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

If you have any problems, then to turn auto-tuning back on type the following in Command Prompt:

Type in: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal

    Best Regards
