How to copy a Custom field from one of my projects to my Global.mpt file? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

How to copy a Custom field from one of my projects to my Global.mpt file on my PC, while I'm connected to Project Server 2013?

If I recall well I did that in 2010 but I don't remember how ;(

    Thanks

I just did a quick test with Microsoft Project 2016 and Project Online.  I believe what you will need to do is the following:

    1. Launch Microsoft Project and connect to Project Server.
    2. Open an enterprise project and do not check it out.
    3. Click File > Save As and save the project as an MPP file.
    4. Close the MPP project and exit Microsoft Project.
    5. Launch Microsoft Project and DO NOT connect to Project Server.  In the Login dialog, select the Computer profile instead.
    6. Open the MPP file.
    7. Click File > Info > Organizer > Fields.

    Hope this helps.
