Windows 10 New tabs RRS feed

  • Question

  • So I am currently using IE and Windows 10. When I open a new tab with Ctrl + N the new tab opens in edge. Even though I have gone in to properties of IE and changed it to open new windows through IE. This is also happens when I go to secure websites automatically. I have the option in edge to open it in IE yet it does not appear to do this automatically. Am I missing something.

  • Hi,

Is this a work computer, connected to a domain network? Your company's IT department can configure how Edge and IE open websites through Enterprise Site Mode Lists and Group Policy settings.

In the first instance you should contact your company IT department or for assistance in configuring your profile.

Web sites can be programmed to determine how links in web pages can be opened... to avoid confusion you should include in your questions links to website you are having problems with..

    You could try...

    1. Run a windows update.

    Reset IE settings...

Run IE in no-Addons or InPrivate mode to test if one of your installed addons is causing the issue...

Reset IE security zone settings, Internet Options>Security tab click "Reset all zones to default"... Also remove any public websites from your IE trusted sites list... IE has a security zone setting preventing navigation into a zone of lower integrity..... home users do not need sites in the IE trusted sites zone list..... https works in any IE security zone mapping.
