Exchange transport service is pegging the CPU RRS feed

  • Question

  • With no apparent changes, one of our CAS/HUB servers is pegging its CPU. We tried rebooting, and if the exchange transport service is disabled the CPU runs normally. A minute or so after the service is started, the CPU goes to 100%. Any thoughts?

Answers

  • No logged errors, and the CPU pegged shortly after turning on the service. The other cas/hub servers were OK.

We decided to restore the server from backup.

  • Two things - have you checked the queues on the server?  It's possible you received a huge amount of Internal mail and it's trying to get it all delivered.  And have you checked the event logs to see if there are any issues there?

  • Hi Mike,

    Thank you for your question.

Did CUP goes to 100% all the time after a minute?

We could update anti-virus program which is on Exchange server to latest version to check if the issue persist. We could refer to the following link:

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb332342.aspx

Notice: this is a link about Exchange 2013, but it is adapt for Exchange previous version.

In addition we could follow Martin’s advice that check if there are any errors in event id and post this error to ibsexc@microsoft.com for our troubleshooting.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

    Best Regard,

    Jim
