DHCP Relay Agent configuration. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have one doubt on DHCP configuration.

We want to assign IP address to clients by using DHCP. But the clients are in different sub network like 192.168.1.0 & 192.168.2.0....

In this case how can I configure DHCP relay agent & how it will assign IP addresses to clients PC's.

Please tell me the exact solution for this, I couldn't find proper solution for this.

    Thanks in advance.........:)

  • Hi Pallavi,

What is your DHCP relay agent, using windows RRAS server or network devices like router?

The DHCP relay agent may in the same subnet with the clients, and in the DHCP relay agent, we need to set the DHCP server's IP address. If it is a RRAS server, then, we may configure the setting here:

  • for cisco you have to run command 'ip helper-address' on the interfaces of routers.
