DPM 2010 Reporting and Recovery Point Status error RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm using DPM 2010 on a Windows 2008 server. Whenever we try to run a Recovery point status report, or access the Reporting module try to run a report, I always receive the following error when it opens the report in IE:

An error occurred during client rendering.
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot create a connection to data source 'DPMReporterDataSource'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
Cannot open database "DPMDB" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'ServerX\DPMR$ServerX'.

    Any clue?

  • Hi TTSE,

Can you try the troubleshooting with steps mentioned in the below technet article?

  • Thanks for your info Mukul. I have checked the security policy and DPMR$ServerX has the "Allow log on locally" user right. The other troubleshooting suggestion is to remove DPMR$ServerX from the DPMDBReader$ServerX group, will it help? I am not sure if the removal of the account will mess up other config?

  • hi.. i got the same issue. Got it fixed like this.

If your  SQL Reporting Service is configured to run as "Network Service". Then,

    1. Open the Report Manager console http://servername/Reports_MSDPM2010

    2. Click on the DPM reporter data source. open it.

    3. Under the credentials check the account you are using. try a Domain\username and password. Better be it a account with DB owner rights.

4, Save it and run the report. it should work.

    5. It worked for me. Good luck.
