OWA Extension Development RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are looking to develop an add-in or extension to Outlook Web Access 2007 (OWA) that will allow us to provide an alternative view of certain attachments for web users.

Most of our users send attachments consisting of stub files created by a document management system, with a particular extension/mime-type. When a user is using Outlook client on the desktop these are associated with the application and retreived from the DM server. On the web users can't see the attachments however it would be possible via our Sharpeoint portal.

Is it possible to develop a bespoke OWA add-in which when the user clicks these types of attachments it instead redirects to a web page allowing the user
    to view the attachment.

I have seen this done with other applications (we use EAS archiving system), and this places a toolbar on the OWA web site as well.

Can anyone point me to the appropriate documentation or a Sample app that shows how this is done?
