  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm a newbie. This is the first time me using the power BI. I have some questions which might sound easy to you guys, please excuse me for that.

I have created cubes using SSAS. Now i want to use the Power BI to create reports and host them on the share point. I downloaded the powerbi desktop , i can connect to the cubes, i created a report and when i click on Publish power BI , its asking me for username and password, do we need a separate licence for power bi? Also how can i integrate it with sharepoint? Please need advice.

    Thanks

  • 1. When you Publish your Desktop Report file to the PowerBI service - you need first to create a PowerBI service account. You can do it for free here:

    https://app.powerbi.com/signupredirect?pbi_source=web

    2. If you want your report to get LIVE data from SSAS Cube - you need the Pro Version of Power BI subscription. It costs 10$ per month per user. You can try it for 60 days for free. When you publish your report - it will ask you if you want to create Pro account - choose "Try for 60 days free".

    3. You will also need to install and configure Enterprise Gateway for Power BI service to connect to your on-premises data. You can read about it here:

    https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-gateway-onprem/

    Hope these help

Good luck and enjoy Power BI!
