Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper has stopped working when trying to uninstall Office Professional Plus 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi.

My daughter downloaded Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 beta to her computer which runs Windows Vista Home Premium OS.  We now want to uninstall it but when we go to Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features and try to uninstall, we get the error..."Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper has stopped working."  This also happens when we try to Change instead of Uninstall.

Event Viewer shows..."Faulting application setup.exe_Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper, version 14.0.4514.1004, time stamp 0x4abe495d, faulting module OSETUP.DLL, version 14.0.4514.1004, time stamp 0x4abe4a12, exception code 0xc0000417, fault offset 0x002ede94, process id 0x734, application start time 0x01caa30b02562440."  Product Name: Microsoft Windows Operating System; Product Version: 6.0.6000.16386; Event ID: 1000; Event Source: Application Error; Locale ID: 1033.

What can we do to uninstall this?

    Thank you.

  • Hi Deb,

Please take a look at this article:
