  • I am sorry but I am all out of ideas. I think it would be best if you could open a case with Microsoft Customer Support Services so that they can take a closer look at your configuration and try to figure out the reason for the error you get.

  • Hi,

If you have a redirect trunk, just delete it first, and then activate. After successful activation, you can recreate the redirect trunk.

  • Hi Ran,

Many thanks for your reply. Yes I know this fact if I delete trunk it will solve my problem. But we have many things configured on existing trunk and already published for users. So crearting a new trunk would be a trouble some task. Is there any possibility to find the option mentioned in the above link. I am not able to locate that option in YAG management console. I found a similar issue found at microsoft site but they have not mentioned how to provision it. I am not able to find this option any where in trunk.

Just search for “When you create a redirect trunk for an HTTPS trunk in an array on which load balancing is not enabled, you must manually assign the IP addresses of the redirect trunk for each array member.”

  • He was talking about the redirect trunk; this should be easy to delete and recreate...

On the redirect trunk main page, there is an IP address selection drop down which is what I think Idan (IP) is referring to.

  • Hi Jason,

Yes it is easy to delete the trunk but many application are configure in that trunk so we need to recreate all application in new trunk.Right? When we join the new member to aray that specific drop down become disable so I can not make any change.

What I presume from Idan we can do that without deleting the trunk.

  • Hi Jason,

I have only one trunk and few application are configured like OWA, Intranet web site etc. This trunk was configured in stand alone configuration. Than I raise this server role to Array Manager and add another member to this array. This was done successfully. Now I tried to make certian changes when when trying to activate the configuration getting this error.

"Error: Trunk "XXX" cannot be activated due to the following: Invalid External IP address choose a different IP". Everything was working correct with single server. After few search I found these two link explaing the same problem but not able to figer out how to put that IP for each array member.

Just search for “When you create a redirect trunk for an HTTPS trunk in an array on which load balancing is not enabled, you must manually assign the IP addresses of the redirect trunk for each array member.”

  • OK, in case you have one single trunk and no redirect trunk, then it looks to me like maybe you did not successfully performed all the steps mentioned here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd857330.aspx , mainly these:

    7.     If load balancing is not enabled, and you have already defined one or more trunks, you must manually add the IP address of each array member in the properties of each array trunk, as follows:

    a.     On the array manager server, open the Forefront UAG Management console. If the console is already open, on the File menu, click Reload Configuration.

    b.     In the left tree node, click a trunk.

    c.     On the main trunk properties page, add the external IP address of the Forefront UAG server you added to the array.

    d.     On the toolbar of the console, click the Activate configuration icon. On the Activate Configuration dialog box, click Activate.

    e.     Repeat the above steps for each trunk defined in the array

  • Hi Ran,

I tried the same; reload the configuration and assign the IP on both Array manager and to Array member from trunk properties but have same error message. On both Array manager and Array member I have external IP.

  • Can you please give some more and specific details of your trunk(s) configuration (details about applicatons on those trunks are not needed), for example:

    • Are you using NLB or not
    • IP addresses configured for each trunk on each array node

    Thanks,

  • Hi Ran,

I have only one https trunk configured. I am using "Non intergrated NLB option". I can see two UAG servers there one array manager and other arry member. I have correctly selected external IPs for both servers. But some how not able to activate the configuration getting same error which I mentioned earlier.
